The ancient Greek stories were the stories about heroes, rulers and gods of Mount Olympus. They controlled everything including the harvests, the wars, love and even the weather. The most famous legend is the Odysseus. The Odysseus is a mythology about a man that made a ten year journey home after the Trojan war was conducted.
Apon the completion of the Greeks taking Troy, all the Greeks took off back home. During this period of time Odysseus loaded up his ships with food and wine awaiting to leave. He first headed south and thats were met with some terrible, horryfing storms. These storms were beleived to be set by the god of the Sea, Poseidon. Because of these storms the boat was now taken off course and was drifting fowards to the land of the Lotus Eaters. The men that came along with Odysseus tried these beautiful sweet peices of fruit and then soon forgot about everything. It was up to Odysseus put his crew back on the ship.
The next stop that Odysseus made was at a place called the Cyclops. Cylops was covered in gigantic one eyed creatures that would eat people like cannibals. The son of Poseidon was called the Cyclops Polyphemus, he trapped Odysseus and his men in the cave. The Cyclops Polyphemus ate three of Odysseus' men every night, starting with scooping out their brains. One night Odysseus gave the cannibal lot sof his strong wine, when the giant was drunk Odtsseus poked out his eye with a long spear. When the blind cannibal let his sheep out in the morning, Odysseus and the left of his crew held on to the sheep's bellies to hide. Soon after, Poseidon got furious and started to destroy any evacuating ships that he could see. Odyseeus' ship survived as well as only a few more.
At odysseus' third stop, he found himself and his crew in the middle of King Aeolus's kingdom. King Aeolus was the king of winds and therefore gave Odysseus a leather bag full of thunder sttorms. The kingh said it must never be opened. thinking that the bag was full of treasure, the crew of Odysseus opened it and set free the storm winds. Soon the ship was rocking up aand down and everywhere getting attacked by these ferociuos winds. the winds were so strong that it pushed the boat off course. this blew them all the way to another cannabalise country. these people were called the Laestrygonians and they werent very happy about Odysseus coming to their land. when the ships arrived, the Laestrygonians destroyed all but one ship. Odysseus'.
After being the lucky one out, Odysseus set up North towards Circe's land. Circe was giving everyone that was left a drug that would make the crew turn into pigs. One man escaped from being under this curse and warned Odysseus about her spell. Soon, god Hermes came to the rescue and gave Odysseus a cure that would stop him from turning into a pig. After Circe realised that her powers were to weak up against Odysseus', she fell in love and and decided she would do anything for him. Odysseus fell in love to and granted that all his crew would be turned back to normal. That only lasted one year as Odysseus had to set off once again.
Nearly reaching home, Odysseus was sailing near the Sirens. The Sirens could sing so irresistibally well, that every sailor that heard could not but help jump in with them and meetr their death. Knowing this would happen, Odysseus put wax in all his sailors ears but not his. As Odysseus was very keen to hear these mermaids, he mad ehis crew tie him to the mast of the ship so he wouldnt be tempted.
After being through a very long journey, Odysseus had to make a life changing decision. There was two terrible monsters in his way, there was the six-headed monster Scylla or the whirlpool monster Charybdis. The route that Odysseus chose was the one that lead him closest to the six-headed monster, Scylla. Odysseus beleived that he would only lose six of him men as one would be eaten by each of the Scylla's heads.
There was another stop before home that he made. It was at the island of the sun god, Hyperion. The remains of Odysseus' crew were starving and disobeyed the law of not killin the sacred cows of the island. Another god called Zues became very angry and when they were leaving the island, he struck the boat with lightning. After the bolt, all of his crew died except Odysseus. Soon Odysseus was already on apeice of boat wreckage floating towards the monster Charybdis. Reacting quickly, Odysseus found a overhead branch and clung on to it.
After floating for nine days on a peice of his boat, he found another island with a beautiful and nice girl called Ogygia. He stayed on this island with the girl for eight years before Ogygia made him a raft to float on. He floated on this raft for not a long perod of time before meeting his last stop before going home. At this place he met the king's daughter and not soon after the king. After the king heard Odysseus' story, he gave Odysseus a boat. Before Odysseus could blink he was home with his wife. In total he was away for 20 years.
