Food in Anceint Greece
Food in Ancient Greece
Food in Anceint Greece was pretty simple. It mainly consisted of bread and redwine or in our case bread and olive oil.
Breakfast was not a very important meal but was still eaten by everyone. It was simply just bread dipped in red wine (olive oil).
Lunch was the same along with some olives, cheese and some grapes/figs.
As supper was the most important meal of all to the Anceint Greeks it was eaten at sunset. It did not contain bread of any sort or wine/olive oil. The Anceint Greeks did have a sweet part of the dish, possibly honey cakes or what we made a sugared apple pie.
The main protein source for the Anceint Greeks was fish. Beef and pork was very expensive and was only given to poor people in religous ceremonies.
The Anceint Greeks did not have any cuttlery or utensils to eat with, so they ate with their hands.
Wine in the Anceint Greek society was known to be one of the only drinks they drunk. It would always be watered down. Milk was not drunk as the person would be known to be uncivilized.
